Dr Valerie Shrimplin

Dr Valerie Shrimplin is an Art Historian, Researcher and Author, who was awarded her PhD for her research entitled 'Sun Symbolism and Cosmology in Michelangelo's 'Last Judgment'.' She has subsequently produced a number of academic publications focusing on the influence of astronomy and cosmology on art and architecture, particularly of the Byzantine, medieval and Renaissance periods.

Her work has been well reviewed and she is highly regarded for her interdisciplinary approach which offers new insights into some well trodden Renaissance subjects.

Qualifications
PhD, History/History of Art, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg Postgraduate Diploma, Museum Studies, University of Manchester BA Hons, History and History of Art, University of Bristol

She is an accredited Arts Society Lecturer and current Chair of the Conferences on the Inspiration of Astronomical Phenomena (www.insap.org)
